Robert Parker, tasting note published in January 12th 2020
Deep garnet in colour, it rolls easily, sensuously from the glass with evolving fruit notes of cooked blackcurrants, plum preserves, blackberries and fruitcake plus underlying hints of charcuterie, camphor, chocolate covered cherries and candied violets with just a touch of cast iron panning. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is an exercise in balance, with loads of emerging black fruit and layers of earth and a solid line of finely grained tannins, finishing very long with a perfumed lift.
2009 was an ideal season. Abundant rains in February and May reduced concerns about winter drought, and a mild spring with little temperature fluctuation even contributed to bud break and healthy flowering. Summer temperatures were consistently warm without excessive heat spikes, and a long Indian summer allowed the berries to develop perfect complexity and ripeness. Harvest was an intense effort, starting on 5th October and finishing on 12th October, just before the heavy rains on 13th October.

Dominus Estate
We produce wines that reflect the purity, complexity and character of grapes grown exclusively from the Napanook vineyard. This unique provenance qualifies our wines as estate bottled wines, a designation rarely found.
The character of a wine is defined by the grapes at harvest. With our extensive vineyard efforts, once we have the grapes in hand, our winemaking practice is minimalist:
Thorough selection of the clusters by hand.
Optical sorting of the berries.
Gentle pumping-over – delicately extracts aromas, colour, tannin, and reveals the personality of each blend.
Manual stacking from barrel to barrel every three months, using the skiff.
