O Produtor, tasting note published in July 24th 2010

The 2008 Dominus is a wine of great purity and definition, with distinctive berry aromas and a smooth but precise palate. Deep blackberry and black plum complement fine mineral notes. This wine is intensely perfumed, velvety and ethereal.

Dominus

A challenging year for grapegrowers but extremely rewarding for winemakers, 2008 was conditioned by unusually low rainfall during winter and spring. From mid March to late April, cold mornings threatened young shoots with frost, while dramatic temperature fluctuations during flowering hampered pollination, resulting in few berries per cluster. Reduced soil water reserves limited vigour, reduced berry size and generated record low yields. With six days above 100oF, the summer was hot; a peak of 104oF was recorded on 28 August. Late September marked the beginning of a fast, high-quality vintage characterised by uniformly ripened grapes.
