O Produtor

O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2022

Beautiful, intense Ruby color. The nose shows what was the year 2018 - a fresh year with moderate maturations. The aromatic profile of the wine is elegant, with mineral notes in harmony with balsamic, floral and fresh red fruit touches. In the mouth it is light and fine, with soft but persistent tannins. The good acidity of the set makes it easy to drink and enjoy.

Niepoort

The year 2018 was a fresh year until August, with the coolest July in the history of the 21st century. Ripening of the vine was about 3 weeks behind the year 2017. In the first days of August there was a strong increase in temperature: August 4th was the warmest day of the 21st century (to date) and the ripening of the grapes continued slowly during September. Due to the water stress imposed, the plants originated musts with low alcohol content and good phenolic maturation, with great complexity and minerality. After transport to Quinta de Naples the grapes were carefully destemmed into a stainless steel vat where they fermented at a controlled temperature for about one week. Part of the blend ages in French oak barrels while the rest remains in stainless steel for about 6 months.

Niepoort Vinhos

The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. The first property in Douro was bought in 1987 and Dirk Niepoort started a new Era in the company with the creation of the first Redoma red in 1991. In the last years Niepoort took on the great challenge of interpreting other soils and climates and acquired two properties in other regions, Dão and Bairrada. Discover the Niepoort Triangle which express the different terroirs: Schist (Douro), Limestone (Bairrada) and Granite (Dão).
