Robert Parker, tasting note published in January 15th 2021

The very deep, garnet purple colour of the Dalla Valle 2018 Maya is shy and restrained to start. With swirl, it begins to reveal seductive notes of fragrant earth, lavender and Sichuan pepper, giving way to a core of wild blueberries, blueberries, black raspberries and blackcurrants plus a hint of iron ore. The palate is full-bodied, revealing itself in layers of slow-release black and blue fruits with an earthiness and exhilarating mineral sparks, framed by firm, wonderfully ripe tannins and bold freshness, finishing with a lingering iron note. As cerebral as it is hedonic, this Maya is simply jaw-dropping.

Dalla Valle

This crown jewel originates from the remarkable vineyard that shares its name. An exclusive blend aged in French oak, Maya showcases the exceptional Cabernet Franc of the site; it is graceful and seductive with an unmistakable pedigree. Less than 500 cases are produced each year. 22 months in new French oak. The 2018 vintage fermented and aged without intervention and was bottled unfiltered. We feel that these low-impact winemaking techniques, along with organic and biodynamic farming practices, bring more life to the wine.
