CV Curriculum Vitae

The 2018/2019 wine year was characterised by significant fluctuations in temperature and below-normal annual rainfall values, making 2019 a dry year. The weather conditions led to a slight advance in the vegetative cycle compared to the average of the last five years. This advance slowed down during the cycle. Despite the occurrence of heavy rain in April, the subsequent weather conditions contributed to the excellent phytosanitary quality of the bunches at harvest. Harvesting generally started at the end of September and continued slightly later than last year thanks to good weather conditions in September and October. The occasional rainfall during the harvest had a positive impact on the ripening process, as the good phytosanitary quality of the bunches allowed the grapes to ripen well. The harvest resulted in high quality musts, generally with higher acidity, lower alcohol content and good phenolic content. The harvest of red grapes will take place between 16 September and 11 October 2019. CV – Curriculum Vitae Douro Tinto comes from a single vineyard in the Torto River Valley. Over 25 different varieties from a single vineyard over 80 years old – including Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Donzelinho Tinto, Tinta Francisca, Sousão, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional, among others. All the grapes are picked and selected by hand before being destemmed and placed in granite presses. All grapes are crushed by foot 2 to 3 days before fermentation begins. The wine will ferment in lagares and occasionally be trodden on to extract the tannins, colour and aromas of the wine evenly. The wines are transferred to 75% new French oak barrels (225 litres) for malolactic fermentation and aging for 21 months. Final blending is carried out approximately one month before bottling. Bottling date: July 2021 (5,474 x 750ml + 209 x 1500ml + 56 x 3000ml). WINEMAKERS: Cristiano van Zeller and Joana Pinhão
