James Suckling, tasting note published in February 12th 2018
I'm breathless with the dark cherry, lavender and orangey-orange aromas. Some salt. So formidable and deep. Surprisingly sexy on the palate with a density and power, yet leaves things so clean and bright. You want to drink it and enjoy it now, but it has the structure to last forever. Drink it in 2022.
We picked some young Merlot vines on 15 September, but the harvest began in earnest on 22 September and finished on 7 October. The relatively high alcohol content of the 2015 vintage is balanced by a dense tannic structure without any rustic notes, thanks to the perfect phenolic ripeness of the pips and skins. At the moment, this remarkable balance leads us to believe that 2015 will be in line with recent great vintages such as 2010, 2009 and 2005.
