James Suckling, tasting note published in March 16th 2015

Fabulous aromas of liquorice, flowers and blackcurrant follow through to a full body with wonderful silky, caring tannins and a long, savoury finish. It is complex and exceptional.

Château La Lagune

Chateau La Lagune needs some time before it can be enjoyed. Young vintages can be decanted for about 2 hours. This allows the wine to soften and open up its perfume. Older vintages may need very little decanting, just enough to remove sediment.

Chateau La Lagune is usually best aged at least 6-9 years in bottle. Naturally, this can vary slightly depending on the character of the vintage. Chateau La Lagune offers its best drinking window and should reach maximum maturity between 7-25 years of age after harvest. It is best served with all kinds of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roast, grilled and broiled.

Château La Lagune

Château La Lagune produces a 3rd Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé, a blend of the Médoc’s flagship grape varieties – Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot – and over the years has offered wines renowned for their balance, finesse and elegance. In the same spirit of excellence, the estate also produces a second wine called ‘Moulin de La Lagune’ and, since 2004, a third wine called ‘Mademoiselle L’. Planted on one of the most perfect gravel hills in the region, La Lagune’s vineyard covers 80 hectares, where Caroline has worked for many years to implement environmentally friendly viticulture based on organic and biodynamic farming practices. The main aim is to preserve the terroirs, the soil and the vineyards, but also the health of the winegrowers who work there. The official transition to organic farming was initiated in 2013, with certification planned for the 2016 harvest. This natural approach, adapted to each plot, plays a key role in the quality of the wines. It allows the fruit to draw all the complexity and finesse of the terroir from the soil, and return it to us, thanks to patient and precise vinification and maturation in barrels using the traditional method.
