Robert Parker, tasting note published in February 12th 2013
Sensual notes of creme de cassis along with a big kiss of cedar wood, spice box and liquorice are all present in this dense, ruby/purple coloured wine that is lush and silky with opulence and early appeal. It can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years. Owned by Xavier Borie, the owner of the better known Grand Puy Lacoste, this 2010 is a beauty and one of the strongest efforts he has produced in recent years.
The 2010 Château Haut Batailley presents a counterpoint to some of the opaque, tannic left bank wines of this vintage. Owned and produced by the team responsible for Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Haut-Batailley has a bright, expressive and fluid concentration of fruit. Structure, weight and tannin are presented with a lightness of touch, class and elegance. This is thoughtful and considered winemaking.
