O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2019

Intensely complex aroma, with notes of forest berries and rockrose from Touriga Franca, spices and red fruits from Tinta Roriz, and very fresh and elegant violet floral notes from Touriga Nacional. Aging for 12 months in American and French barrels gives the characteristics of a great wine from the Douro with a modern and international profile. In the mouth, it is sweet and enveloping, with very smooth noble tannins, a long, warm finish.

Castello D’Alba

Grapes come from vines planted in the Douro Superior, at an average altitude of 300 meters, with an average age of about 20 years, generally planted in terraces with a predominant East/North exposure. The goal is to select grapes that allow the production of concentrated, highly aromatic, and rich wines with good structure, gastronomic character, and that well represent the “terroir” of the Douro Superior, with its notes of rockrose, black fruits, and very elegant spices.

Vinification: Manual harvesting, total destemming upon reception, and immediate crushing. Grapes are fermented by variety and in batches, allowing for an early and rigorous selection that will later give rise to the traditional “blend,” revealing the art of selecting grapes by plots and the art of selecting wines for blending. Fermentation takes place in small-capacity stainless steel tanks, with temperatures around 28°C. Gentle and controlled macerations aim to obtain elegant and aromatic wines.

Aging: Part of the batch ages for 12 months in French oak barrels with a small percentage of American oak.

Rui Roboredo Madeira Vinhos

In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between the Douro Superior and Beira Alta regions, it was among family that its passion grew for the aromas and smells of this land that shapes our character.
After coming into contact with many cultures of living and making wine, in various parts of the globe, Rui Madeira returned to the great Douro valley convinced that they have the potential to make the best wines in the world.
Out of respect for nature, due to the way we cultivate their vineyards and wines reflect his experiences, which smell and taste of land, of schist, damp granite, rock rose, wild flowers and fruit.
It is in the winery that he makes wines with the character of our ‘terroir’, expressed through native grape varieties, which instil with a style of their own and an international profile.
