O Produtor, tasting note published in September 10th 2021

Great aromatic purity, intense, and very fresh, with notes of violets and wild berries, characteristic of the grape varieties from which it originates. On the palate, the notes of the aroma are felt in an intense, elegant, and long-lasting ensemble.

Castello d'Alba

Based in the Upper Douro, Castello d’Alba was the first wine I launched nearly 20 years ago. Today, it is a benchmark brand in the Douro, found in the finest restaurants, hotels, and wine shops.” – Rui Roboredo Madeira

Origin: Grapes come from non-irrigated vineyards in the Upper Douro, cultivated using organic farming methods. The vines are exclusively planted with grape varieties perfectly adapted to the climate and soils of the region, allowing for sustainable viticulture with minimal intervention and in balance with the region’s ecosystem.

Vinification and aging: 100% manual harvest in small perforated crates. Reception, destemming, and crushing. Cold maceration for 48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation for 3 weeks. Bottle aging for 9 months.

Enjoy it on its own or pair it with traditional, Mediterranean, or oriental cuisine.

Rui Roboredo Madeira Vinhos

In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between the Douro Superior and Beira Alta regions, it was among family that its passion grew for the aromas and smells of this land that shapes our character.
After coming into contact with many cultures of living and making wine, in various parts of the globe, Rui Madeira returned to the great Douro valley convinced that they have the potential to make the best wines in the world.
Out of respect for nature, due to the way we cultivate their vineyards and wines reflect his experiences, which smell and taste of land, of schist, damp granite, rock rose, wild flowers and fruit.
It is in the winery that he makes wines with the character of our ‘terroir’, expressed through native grape varieties, which instil with a style of their own and an international profile.
