O Produtor, tasting note published in April 9th 2021
Brunello CastelGiocondo 2015 first appeals to the eye with its deep ruby red colour. On the nose it expresses itself with berry and bitter cherry aromas. Cinnamon, tobacco, mint and tea leaves combine in a really complex range of aromas, where each component alternates without dominating the others. The wine completely envelops the mouth, with velvety tannins that give a creamy feel. The alcoholic component is well balanced by a fresh balsamic sensation and a tasty mineral sensation. Long finish, typical of the great vintages of CastelGiocondo.
CastelGiocondo in Montalcino has a unique location with its varied exposure and terrain – galestro, clay and Pleocene sands – offers infinite nuances to this Brunello. A multifaceted experience that evolves with time and urges us to discover, taste and remember, again and again. The great care taken in the vineyard, together with the typical characteristics of this unmistakable terroir, have resulted in an exceptional vintage. The Sangiovese grapes were hand-picked and carefully selected after their arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with frequent pumping over, particularly during the initial stages. The wine was then aged in wooden containers where it was able to mature, ripen and develop balance. Five years after the grapes were harvested, and only after another period of bottle ageing, CastelGiocondo Brunello is now ready to be put on the market.
