Casas Altas
The landscape of Beira Interior is dramatic and sparsely populated, the climate demanding, the soils granitic and the altitudes high. Vineyards coexist with pastures, olive groves, and various forests, at an altitude of over 650 meters, on granitic soils, with exposure to the rising sun and southeast, with high thermal amplitudes between day and night. Maturations are traditionally long. A unique terroir that confers distinctive qualities to Casas Altas wines. This is where Casas Rufete Red Wine is born.
“When I create my wines, I seek the purity of origins, without makeup. I search for the true expression of the land and the grapes. In complete respect for viticulture, grapes, nature, and by producing wines with minimal intervention.” – José Madeira Afonso
