Casa Ferreirinha
Antónia Adelaide Ferreira is the name of an emblematic figure in the history of the Douro and it is her legacy that is honoured with each new harvest. Each limited edition celebrates another anniversary of Dona Antónia and her passion, determination and vision. A wine that brings together the Cima Corgo and the Douro Superior, the terroirs she loved so much because they had a wine potential identical in character to her own: firm but integrated, lively but ripe and elegant.
The winter was dry and cold. In spring, rainfall was below normal and temperatures were mild, which allowed for good budbreak conditions. In summer, temperatures were mild, with no major heat spikes, here and there a few episodes of rainfall, which favoured a long and balanced end of ripening, allowing for the production of high quality wines.
Vinified in batches by grape variety or individual plots, Quinta da Leda uses grapes from the Leda, Seixo, Sairrão and Porto estates for a long maceration and gentle extraction at controlled temperatures. After fermentation and removal of the liquid, pressing is carried out by gravity, without mechanical action, resulting in 225 litres of each individual batch.
Maturation: Malolactic fermentation and ageing in used French oak barrels for 8 months. This is followed by ageing in used French oak barrels for 24 months. The final blend is made on the basis of a selection of the best wines, resulting from numerous tastings and analyses carried out during this period. In order to preserve the highest quality, it is only filtered before bottling.
