With aromas of red fruits and vegetable notes, it is an elegant, delicate and complex wine with a long finish.

Casa da Passarella

A concept for wines that happen. They happen due to unique conditions in unique years. They happen in very limited quantities. They happen due to a constant restlessness, a challenge to all established norms. These wines are not part of the permanent portfolio – they could be called ‘collection wines’. They are wines to be found. And above all, discovered by those who can.

The red wine from Casa da Passarella, O Fugitivo Vinhas Centenárias, is produced under unique conditions, in unique years, from four plots of century-old vines, using ancestral winemaking methods to preserve the genetic and cultural heritage of the region through a minimalist approach in the cellar. It seeks to enhance the best that the vineyard gives us, respecting its history.

And because the most precious heritage is our history. This wine expresses the character of a century-old vineyard and the know-how of the generations that have passed through Casa.

Dry continental climate, with granitic soils. Traditional vinification in lagar, with 1 year aging in 600-liter barrels and 2 years in bottle.

Casa da Passarella

Located in Lagarinhos, in the sub-region of Serra da Estrela, at an altitude of 600 to 800m the Casa da Passarella was founded in 1892, even before the demarcation of the Dão region (1908). With its name back in the mouths of the world, it will never be known if it was the climate, if it was the land. If it was the talent of the people who passed through here and their passionate stories and personalities. Or if it was simply luck.
One thing is certain: silent and imposing, the old mountain has seen from above the birth of great wines in this piece of land of the Dão. Great wines were born from this house and these vineyards, before they were abandoned and later valued by the current owner, Ricardo Cabral. The renovated Casa da Passarella , presents wines with rigor and with, not less delicious, labels.
