O Produtor, tasting note published in May 23rd 2019

Very concentrated black cherry colour. The nose is intense cherry with floral notes, perfectly matched with the aromas of French oak barrels toast. In the mouth the attack is voluminous, tannins that are mounted throughout the tasting. The finish is quite rich in aromas and very persistent.

Cabrita Wines

Cabrita wine comes from the picturesque Quinta da Vinha, owned by the Cabrita family and located in the municipality of Silves, with 6.6 hectares of vineyards. The tradition of Cabrita wine dates back to 1977. It was in that year that José André, a fruit trader, acquired the estate and produced traditional Algarvian grapes such as Crato, Manteúdo, Negra-Mole and Castelão, giving rise to his “homemade” wine, which was already recognised for its quality at the time. Later, his son, José Manuel Cabrita, was in charge of the business. This is how the history of Quinta da Vinha turns a page. There was a choice of grape varieties that demonstrated all the Algarve’s potential and in 2000, he replanted the vineyard with Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Aragonês, Arinto and Verdelho.
In 2007 the first wines from these new vineyards were born, Cabrita red and rosé. This entrance presented itself with a bold image, for young consumers, good connoisseurs and all the other curious people who were looking for a local quality wine. A little over 4500 bottles of Cabrita Tinto and 3000 bottles of Cabrita Rosé 2007 were produced. Currently José Manuel Cabrita has 8 different wines, and explores almost 14 hectares of vineyards. His portfolio includes four white wines, one rosé and three red wines, all with very different and unique characteristics. He continues to invest in Portuguese grape varieties and in particular Algarvian varieties, such as Negra Mole or Moscatel, a range of wines he called Native Grapes. Totaling approximately 70,000 bottles annually. Today, the Cabrita family expects a wine that follows in the best tradition of its ancestors, and with such great ambitions for the future.
