O Produtor, tasting note published in July 27th 2022

Visual Aspect: Clear with an intense ruby color.
Olfactory Aspect: Wine with an intense and complex aroma, marked by an explosion of red fruit jam, with notes of cedar providing a fresh sensation, perfectly integrated with nuances of smoked wood and vanilla from the barrel aging.
Gustatory Aspect: In the mouth, it is a full-bodied wine, presenting mature and smooth tannins. The finish is long and persistent with excellent acidity, providing a lot of freshness.

Borges

A complex and elaborate wine that reflects Borges’ experience of over 135 years.

The Borges Reserva Douro Tinto 2021 represents a consistent year, characterized by highly favorable climatic conditions for the healthy development of the vines and gradual ripening. This resulted in balanced wines with excellent volume, intense color concentration, and aromas with a persistent character.

Vinification: Total destemming of the grapes followed by gentle crushing. Part of the batch is initially vinified using the traditional lagar method with foot treading, finishing fermentation in stainless steel tanks, while the remaining batch is vinified only in stainless steel tanks. In both vinifications, a brief pre-fermentation maceration is carried out, followed by skin fermentation for 6-8 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30ºC with relatively frequent pump-overs. After the alcoholic fermentation, a maceration period is carried out, after which the wine is separated from the solids with which it fermented. All the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.
Bottling: Processed in an inert atmosphere with total deoxygenation of the bottle.
