Boina
A wine that expresses the richness of the terroirs in the region, crafted from grapes sourced from old vines, aged over 60 years. These vines are planted partly in areas transitioning between schist and granite at an altitude of 500m with a predominantly north-facing exposure, and partly in typically Douro regions with schist soils located in Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo, at an altitude of 250m with a predominantly south/west exposure.
The predominant grape varieties in this Field Blend are Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Carvalha, Tinta Francisca, and Souzão.
Vinification: Manual harvest in 20kg crates. Total destemming upon reception, followed by crushing and a cold maceration for 2 days. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature to achieve an elegant, smooth wine without excessive extraction.
Aging: 75% in stainless steel; 25% in used French oak barrels.
