O Produtor, tasting note published in May 18th 2020

Complex aroma with sweet vegetal notes combined with wild berries and spices. Mineral character and a slight earthy touch, distinctive of the grape variety. On the palate, it is a fresh wine with soft yet well-present tannins, spicy notes, and a subtle minerality.

Beyra

With the Beyra project, we pioneered the concept of Altitude Wines. In Vermiosa, among the highest vineyards in Portugal, I returned to my roots, in the same cellar where I made my first harvest.” – Rui Roboredo Madeira

The Rufete variety has a strong presence in Beira Interior and meets the demands of consumers who crave wines that are fresh and have a strong gastronomic aptitude.

Origin: Grapes sourced from non-irrigated vineyards, 100% Rufete, originating from two plots of granite soils in the parish of Vermiosa, in the heart of the Douro International Natural Park, at an average altitude of 700 meters.

Vinification and Ageing: Partial destemming and crushing. Whole-cluster fermentation in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts without temperature control, followed by a 15-month ageing in cement eggs. 10% of this batch was aged in used French oak barrels.

This wine has not undergone any stabilization or filtration process. It may develop sediment with age.

Rui Roboredo Madeira Vinhos

In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between the Douro Superior and Beira Alta regions, it was among family that its passion grew for the aromas and smells of this land that shapes our character.
After coming into contact with many cultures of living and making wine, in various parts of the globe, Rui Madeira returned to the great Douro valley convinced that they have the potential to make the best wines in the world.
Out of respect for nature, due to the way we cultivate their vineyards and wines reflect his experiences, which smell and taste of land, of schist, damp granite, rock rose, wild flowers and fruit.
It is in the winery that he makes wines with the character of our ‘terroir’, expressed through native grape varieties, which instil with a style of their own and an international profile.
