O produtor, tasting note published in May 25th 2023

My passion for fresh and mineral wines led me to select grapes from low-productivity granite soils of the Jaen and Pinot Noir grape varieties and vinify them with minimal maceration so that the grape varieties could express their full character. This resulted in a wine with a very fresh aroma, mineral notes, and wild fruit, with a long and elegant finish with present tannins.

Beyra

Origin – Grapes produced in organic farming mode in vineyards planted on the plateau of Beira Interior, at an average altitude of 700 meters, with granite soils. The vineyards are exclusively planted with the Jaen and Pinot Noir grape varieties, perfectly adapted to the rustic climate caused by altitude.

Vinification – Grapes harvested by hand, received with total destemming and immediate crushing. Fermentation for 7 days with gentle maceration.

Aging – In stainless steel tanks.

Gastronomy: Roasted meats, Iberian ham, and cured cheeses.

The organic red wine Beyra 2022 has been selected to be included in the wine list of the business class of KLM and Air France airlines.

Rui Roboredo Madeira Vinhos

In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between the Douro Superior and Beira Alta regions, it was among family that its passion grew for the aromas and smells of this land that shapes our character.
After coming into contact with many cultures of living and making wine, in various parts of the globe, Rui Madeira returned to the great Douro valley convinced that they have the potential to make the best wines in the world.
Out of respect for nature, due to the way we cultivate their vineyards and wines reflect his experiences, which smell and taste of land, of schist, damp granite, rock rose, wild flowers and fruit.
It is in the winery that he makes wines with the character of our ‘terroir’, expressed through native grape varieties, which instil with a style of their own and an international profile.
