Batuta
Less is more — this is the concept behind this wine. Batuta is a wine of extremes: it has more of everything, yet it shows a discreet character. The tannins are present but very fine, the aroma is intense but never exuberant. It’s a wine full of concentration from old Douro vines, but it remains fresh and elegant.
The core of the wine comes from the Carril vineyard, over 70 years old and north-facing, allowing for slow and balanced ripening. The grapes also come from other century-old vineyards near Quinta de Nápoles. This wine is the result of a delicate winemaking process, with long but gentle macerations, and meticulous attention to every detail — to achieve a truly great wine: complex, refined, and elegant.
Vinification: After a careful selection in the vineyard and winery, fermentation took place in stainless steel vats, with skin contact maceration for about 80 days. The wine then aged for approximately 20 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which were new.
Food pairing: Batuta is highly versatile and pairs wonderfully with both meat and fish, such as monkfish, squid, or roasted octopus.
