O Produtor, tasting note published in September 18th 2012

With a beautiful ruby colour of medium concentration, this Batuta is the thinnest and lightest we remember producing. It presents a very austere aroma, with the notes of wild fruits in full harmony with the mineral character. The wood notes are discreet such as those of spices. Complex, with great vigor and tension in the mouth, it impresses with the delicacy and balance between concentration and acidity. Fine and elegant in the mouth, with a silky texture and firm structure, it has very polished tannins. Although young, it impresses with balance and precision. Very fine, long and seductive finish. It will age with great class.

Batuta

Batuta is not a wine made every year. The base of this wine is the Carril vineyard, over 70 years old, and also other old vines (about 100 years old), near Quinta de Nápoles. This wine is the result of a careful selection in the vineyard and on the table of choice of the winery, and a delicate vinification with macerations taken to the limit where all the details are taken into account to obtain a complex, fine and elegant wine. The wine ages in French oak barrels for a period of 20 to 22 months.

Niepoort Vinhos

The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. The first property in Douro was bought in 1987 and Dirk Niepoort started a new Era in the company with the creation of the first Redoma red in 1991. In the last years Niepoort took on the great challenge of interpreting other soils and climates and acquired two properties in other regions, Dão and Bairrada. Discover the Niepoort Triangle which express the different terroirs: Schist (Douro), Limestone (Bairrada) and Granite (Dão).
