O Produtor, tasting note published in June 6th 2020

The nose is broad and complex, yet clean and fresh, with classic notes of red fruit mixed with hints of herbs and spices. In the mouth, the wine is ample, robust and tasty, with silky tannins and a long, fresh finish.

Argiano

Argiano is part of the history of the Montalcino region and is one of the most prestigious and historic realities of the area. The name is thought to derive from the earliest settlements in Roman times – ‘Ara Janus’, referring to the god Janus. Another potential origin could be ‘the land of the river Orcia’ – known in ancient times as ‘Orgia’ and therefore Argiano. Argiano practices an organic and sustainable method of farming. It believes in the balance of biodiversity and strives to achieve it, through techniques aimed at soil fertility, implementing with natural products such as weeds, chestnut tannins, propolis and zeolite. Even natural insecticides are forbidden; instead, techniques such as sexual confusion and the release of adverse insects are used. The “bee” project, which consists of placing hives near the vineyards, joins those related to the use of mycorrhizae and the study of Microzonation. The latter in particular, comprising the discovery of different microzones within individual vineyard plots, allows us to target and focus our approaches. We believe that vines should not be designed to our liking, but rather studied, understood, interpreted and respected; we believe that they should not be manipulated, but rather allowed to express themselves, to define a place, a climate, a harvest. This is what Good Agriculture means to us.
