O Produtor, tasting note published in August 21st 2022
Opaque violet colour. The aroma shows red fruits and some vegetal, with hints of cherry and cassis, complexed by spicy and mentholated nuances. On the palate firm but round tannins predominate, accompanied by a lively acidity that makes this wine enormously gastronomic and persistent.
Spontaneous fermentation and maceration with foot treading in granite presses at controlled temperatures between 20º and 22ºC. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. Ageing “sur lies”. Filtration. Bottling.

Aphros Wines
Casal do Paço, in Vasco Croft’s family since the 17th century, has the soul of an old Quinta and was the starting point for the Aphros project. The farm spreads over almost 20 hectares of land and woodland, six of which are vineyards and four chestnut orchards. In the centre is a 16th-century granite house with two floors and its chapel. The winery, on the first floor, dates back to the house’s origins.
In October 2006, the first biodynamic process was implemented, marking the beginning of something that would transform the estate and its wines.
Now, Casal do Paço is recognised as an ecological winemaking model committed to the preservation of its ecosystems, which includes not only the vineyards, but also entire forests of acacias, oaks, eucalyptus and century-old trees, and is home to wild boar, foxes and eagles.
