O Produtor, tasting note published in September 18th 2018
It has a ruby hue. The aroma reveals a minerality characteristic of the grape variety, also presenting delicious notes of fresh strawberries and cherry. In the mouth it is fresh, with very present but very soft tannins, vegetable and floral notes, but also spicy and an Atlantic acidity that supports the wine in a very long finish.
Aliás Tinto was born from the centenary vines of Baga grape variety that we find in the old vineyards of Bairrada. It is a limited production of a specific plot of our vineyard in Vale de Cadoiços. In this clayey plot the old vines have an imposing shape and the grapes have a unique freshness. We decided to make a different wine from this micro-terroir, fresher, more open, with less ageing. All with the purity and elegance of the grape variety in mind. Fermentation in lagar, with 10% of stalk and final fermentation in barrels. 12 months ageing in used French oak barrels. Bottled in September 2018 and aged in bottle since then.

Old vines, century-old vines, hillside vines, lowland vines, clay or stony vines, all produce different wines.
It has been our mission to interpret all the differences that exist in the vines and transpose them into the different wines. Our major focus is on old vines of Baga, in the case of the reds, and Bical in the case of the whites, although in some vineyards there are blends with other local grape varieties.
The oenology is minimalist in terms of intervention but quite differentiated and adapted to each of the different vineyards, i.e., the different plots also have a different approach in the winery in order to better reveal what we believe to be their purest expression.
We want wines that are tense, fresh and complex, with a great connection to the terroir and a unique personality and that, fundamentally, will give us pleasure for many years.
