O Produtor, tasting note published in March 10th 2020

Deep red in color. The nose reveals notes of plum, vegetal, balsamic aromas, wood, and cereals. On the palate, it is complex with flavors of plum, pencil shavings, and balsamic notes. Firm and full-bodied structure.

1808

The 1808 Field Blend red wine was first produced in 2014, using traditional Douro grape varieties. It comes from a 94-year-old vineyard, planted in schist soils 115 km from the Atlantic coast at an altitude of 110 meters, benefiting from a mountainous and continental climate with hot, dry summers.

Vinification: 100% manual harvest. The grapes are partially destemmed and crushed directly into a full tank. Cold maceration for 3 days, followed by 12 days of alcoholic fermentation without temperature control. Gentle foot treading twice a day. 1 month of “cuvaison,” with malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels.

Aging: 48 months in French oak barrels.

With great aging potential, it pairs deliciously with pata negra ham, aged cheese, game stews, and sausages.
