Tecedeiras
Terroir
Bathed along 1.5 km by the waters of the left bank of the Douro River, in the prestigious area of São João da Pesqueira, Quinta das Tecedeiras owes its name to the nuns who lived there and dedicated themselves to weaving the linen that was cultivated there in the past. The soils are schist and the exposure north and west, with the vineyards between 90m and 190m of altitude. The grapes ripen well and with great concentration of aromas and flavours. When the vineyards were reconverted, care was taken to leave some older plots of land whose grapes are carefully integrated into the blends of all the wines, DOC or Porto das Tecedeiras.
Vinification
Fermentation of whole bunches in granite presses with traditional foot treading. Aged in barrique for two years. Unfiltered.
Vintage Ports are famous for being perfect partners for certain types of cheese – particularly blue cheeses such as Stiltone Roquefort. And they clearly pair well with dark chocolate, especially when paired with raspberries or other red berries from the forest. This “Single Quinta” Vintage, produced and aged in the Douro Valley, may be enjoyed immediately or stored horizontally for several decades. In any case note that this is an unfiltered wine, and for this very reason we suggest that it should be decanted before serving.
