O Produtor, tasting note published in August 15th 2022

Deep brown in the centre gradually fading to amber, it displays a narrow pale straw coloured rim. The age of this exceptional Port wine is immediately evident. It represents the pinnacle of what long
ageing in wood can achieve, especially when the skilful art of blending imparts definition, proportion and harmony. The wine has the precision and complexity of a clockwork movement, all its
elements work together in harmony. The nose is intense but finely constituted and the aromas remarkably delicate and ethereal due to its great age. Notes of caramel, dried figs and freshly ground coffee mingle with
mingle with marzipan and sultanas to give the wine an opulent plum pudding character, yet this remains discreetly in the background and is enhanced by fresh notes of orange peel and apricot.
Hints of vanilla, cedar wood and cinnamon provide a subtle spicy fragrance. In the mouth the wine has a light touch showing fresh acidity and perfect balance, but retains large reserves of aromas that emerge on the long finish in a gentle wave, seemingly endless. Very few Port wines maintain this balance and inesse after so many years aging in cask. Tasting Taylor's VVO is a rare privilege.

Taylor's

In 2022, the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto (IVDP) announced the creation of a new category of Port Wine the Very Very Old (VVO), for wines aged over 80 years. VVOP is the latest in a series of limited editions of exceptional and very rare Ports extracted from Taylor’s cask aged old wine reserves. This excellent wine is one of the oldest blends released to date. It is made from a selection of rare wines aged in wood in Taylor’s cellars, some of them since before the Second World War, which have reached a concentration that makes them a magical quintessence. The complex and sublime character of Taylor’s VVOP was born from the magical interaction with the oak casks, in which the wine has aged over many decades in the house cellars. It represents the legacy of ancestral knowledge passed down from generation to generation: the expertise of the experienced team of Taylor’s cooperage, who built the casks and maintained them over the years; the experience of the cellar team, who have tended the wine for decades and the artistry of the tasters who have given VVOP its exceptional balance and finesse. A masterpiece of cask ageing, VVOP confirms Taylor’s place as a leader in the production of the best very old Port wines aged in wood.
