Revista de Vinhos, tasting note published in February 24th 2024

Brilliant ink color with a golden halo. Rich and aromatic nose of dried figs, hazelnuts, and walnuts harmoniously balanced by the presence of spices. On the palate, intense flavors of dried fruits, smooth and delicious, are highlighted by a fresh touch of candied orange. Good structure, beautiful balance, and remarkable acidity. Pleasant and long-lasting finish.

Kopke Colheita

Each wine tells a story. In the case of Colheita Kopke, that story is unique. Tasting a wine is tasting history, and in the case of this Colheita, it is recalling significant events such as the crowning of race car driver Nelson Piquet as a three-time Formula 1 world champion.

Vinification: Hand-picked at their optimal point, the grapes are destemmed, crushed, and vinified through a careful maceration process to extract color, tannins, and aromas from the skins, complemented by frequent pump-overs during fermentation. This takes place in lagares at a controlled temperature between 28-30ºC until the desired Baumé degree is reached. At this stage, grape brandy is added (benefit), resulting in a fortified wine. This high-quality wine comes from a single harvest and ages in wood for varying periods, never less than 7 years, before being bottled according to market demands.

Slightly chilled, it expresses all its finesse and sophistication when paired with desserts based on caramel, dried fruits, and spices, such as caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brûlée, and medium intensity cheeses. Serve at a temperature between 12 and 14ºC.

The wine should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations, with the bottle kept upright. As a natural product, Port Wine is subject to creating sediment with age.
