O Produtor, tasting note published in November 25th 2024
Dark purple in color with intense depth. Primary aromas of fruits reminiscent of plums and blackberries, along with a hint of menthol, very fine and discreet. The initial palate is very smooth with evident fresh black fruits, while the final palate exhibits a more serious tannin structure, leading to an excellent and powerful finish.
A Port wine inspired by Rocim and directed by Niepoort.
Climate: Typically Mediterranean, found in the Cima Corgo sub-region.
Soil: Schist.
Vinification: Manual harvest, during the month of September. All components of the Vintage 2020 were foot-trodden in granite lagares with 100% stems. The wine was racked shortly after the harvest, aging in Douro in large barrels during the winter.
Herdade do Rocim is a property located between Vidigueira and Cuba, in Baixo Alentejo, with about 120 hectares, including 70 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of olive groves. Acquired in 2000 by Movicortes, S.A., in the following years there was restructuring and qualification work, consummated with the planting of most of the vineyard that today constitutes the Herdade do Rocim. This process of implantation was made according to specific criteria that allow the production of high quality grapes. The winery is a structuring element of the Herdade do Rocim project, which combines wine production with the aesthetic quality of its architecture and works as a promotional element for the requalification of the region. At Herdade do Rocim all efforts go in the direction of doing well, always improving and with a constant concern for the quality of the wine.
