O Produtor, tasting note published in August 15th 2022

Colour . Coppery amber with golden-green nuance, crystal clear bright.
Aroma . Very characteristic bouquet, intense, with notes of sweet spices, vanilla, dried fruits, candied apricot-like fruits and exotic woods.
Mouth . Very rich, semi-sweet, balanced but concentrated, smooth, with a very long finish with notes of candied fruit macerated in brandy, spices, resinous woods like cedar.

Blandy's

Two centuries and seven generations of producing a wine of excellence, Blandy’s Bual 1972 is the perfect example of this maxim.
Blandy’s is distinguished as being the only family, from all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade, to still own and manage their own wine company.
Blandy’s Bual 1972 was aged in seasoned American oak casks and as with all the family’s vintages, this wine began its ageing process on the warm high attic floors of the hotel in the centre of Funchal. Over the 50 years the wine has moved from the warmer upper floors of Blandy’s Wine Lodges, the “”Sotão de Amendoa””. The art of finding the right balance between concentration and freshness of the wine lies in the winemaker’s decision to transfer the wine to the cooler, north-facing lower level of the lodge.
