Lord of Barbès
A very special gin; Lord of Barbès Gin is a rare and precious product intended for true gin connoisseurs. 100% handmade, organic, and produced in France.
A Gin with the flavor of baobab (“pain de singe”). The baobab is a tropical tree that produces a fruit with a sweet and sour taste liked by both humans and monkeys, hence its name “monkey bread.” Particularly rich, “monkey bread” contains six times more vitamin C than an orange and twice as much calcium as milk.
Skillfully distilled in Bercloux, near Cognac, in a Stupfler copper still (the Rolls Royce of stills) with wheat alcohol, juniper berries, dried mango, ginger, coriander, Guinea pepper, nutmeg, angelica, and cardamom, Lord of Barbès Gin is very strong and highly fragrant, with an alcohol content of 45°, because a good gin should be dry.
The bottle was created from scratch. Blue, to protect the gin from sunlight. Flat like a pocket bottle to fit in your pocket and recyclable in respect of the environment. Manufactured by Waltersperger, master glassmaker since 1916, who, after signing some of the most beautiful bottles for Guerlain, Chanel, Gaultier, Prada, Kenzo… agreed to produce our first 1000 copies. The manufacturing is very expensive, 25,000€ for the mold and almost 6 euros per bottle, not counting the cork beaten piece by piece by Boutroue, which partly explains the high price of our gin, one of the most expensive in the world.
True connoisseurs may prefer to drink it neat at less than 8 degrees or with a green olive like Winston Churchill, but it is also excellent with tonic water or in a cocktail. Our favorite recipe: 4 cl of gin, 2 drops of Angostura, a small piece of “pain de singe,” and ice.
