O Produtor, tasting note published in November 3rd 2020

A perfect combination of smoothness and concentration, accompanied by masterful maturity, Cristal 2015 presents intense and delicious aromas with superb energy and a magical vibrancy. The nose begins with notes of yellow fruit, toasted almonds, and wheat from the Chardonnay, combined with the juicy red fruit of the Pinot Noir. Then comes the great wave of energy from the wine's structure, a vibrating intensity that transforms into a gentle caress, a silky texture interwoven with fine flavors of crystallized citrus and iodized spices. The limestone character of the vintage bursts forth in a refreshing and vertical effervescence, with a persistent, precise, and finely tuned freshness. The finish is sustained by subtle woody, resinous, and saline notes, creating the ultimate sensation of delicacy and concentration. Cristal 2015 remains a wine of supreme balance and measure. A perfect Cristal, intensely representative of the 2015 vintage, with enormous aging potential.

Louis Roederer

The cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon surpasses himself once again!” – Robert Parker

Cristal is a wine that reflects Louis Roederer’s commitment to sustainable viticulture, with practices that include mass selection, gentle pruning, and the use of biodynamic compounds. Since 1845, the vineyards have been carefully developed to express the terroir of Champagne. According to Frédéric Rouzaud, CEO of Louis Roederer, “Cristal is a wine of evolution, slowly revealing the true extent of its unique personality.”

The 2015 vintage stands out for its concentrated character, resulting from warm and dry weather conditions, balanced by timely rains in late summer. This vintage produced juicy and ripe grapes while maintaining remarkable freshness.

Winemaking: With 25% of the wine aged in oak and an approach that avoids malolactic fermentation, Louis Roederer ensures that the bright and pure character of the fruit remains intact. Cristal 2015 is a perfect expression of the symbiosis between maturity and freshness, combining “purity, excellence, and balance,” highlights Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Head of Cellar.

For the first time since 2002, the 2015 vintage includes all 45 plots of vines over 20 years old, reflecting the unique identity of Cristal. This year offers a “new symphony” of flavors and textures, capturing the essence of the terroir and the indissoluble connection between man and nature.

With aging of six to seven years sur lattes, Cristal 2015 invites you to discover a kaleidoscope of nuances, delighting enthusiasts with each new release that reveals the unmistakable character of this extraordinary wine.

Louis Roederer

Founded in 1776, the maison Louis Roederer is arguably a serious case of longevity and excellence. In 1833, it was inherited by Louis Roederer, who in addition to giving her his name, donated all his will making this house an exception among the great brands of Champagne. With an enterprising and visionary spirit, Louis Roederer took care personally of the cultivation of the grapes, since he knew that a great wine depends, above all, on the quality of the raw material. So it took a controversial attitude at the time: to buy own vineyards in Grand Cru areas of Champagne, distinguishing itself forever in a region where 90% of the vineyards belong to small farmers who sell their production to the big brands. Currently the maison Louis Roederer has 240 hectares of vineyards distributed in 410 plots in Grands zones and Crus Premiers. They are in three classic districts of Champagne: Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs and Vallee de la Marne. This allows 70% of Louis Roederer’s wines to be made with their own grapes from strict quality criteria.
