O Produtor, tasting note published in August 8th 2020
Lovely golden-yellow hue, very reminiscent of champagne.
Dense and steady flow of extremely fine bubbles.
Wide and deep bouquet of ripe fruits (wild peaches, William pears) combined with citrus (lemons, blood oranges). Iodized and smoky notes, associated with autolysis and aging in wood, add aromatic freshness. Then come notes of chalk and a hint of reduction, indicating that the wine will be concentrated and powerful.
The entry on the palate is delicious, showing a rich and robust texture. We have a very juicy and concentrated sensation, as if we were biting into a ripe fruit. The substance is caressingly soft, coating the palate, but is immediately lightened by the delicate bubbles. The length is created by a lovely backbone of chalky freshness. The wine is delightfully rich, with a slightly toasty character, and super fresh thanks to a salivating finish. The smoky notes then take over to underpin a very flavorful finish.
Each Collection is a new chapter in the Champagne House’s world of taste. Always unique, yet always decidedly Roederer!
Collection 244 marks the return of the Meunier texture from the Marne and the Montagne, adding a lovely richness to the well-structured and saline Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes!
The dry, continental year of 2019 broke all previous temperature records in a succession of scorching heatwaves! Moderate yields and magnificent maturity resulted in wines that were dense and fresh. The harvest took place from 10 to 21 September.

Louis Roederer
Founded in 1776, the maison Louis Roederer is arguably a serious case of longevity and excellence. In 1833, it was inherited by Louis Roederer, who in addition to giving her his name, donated all his will making this house an exception among the great brands of Champagne. With an enterprising and visionary spirit, Louis Roederer took care personally of the cultivation of the grapes, since he knew that a great wine depends, above all, on the quality of the raw material. So it took a controversial attitude at the time: to buy own vineyards in Grand Cru areas of Champagne, distinguishing itself forever in a region where 90% of the vineyards belong to small farmers who sell their production to the big brands. Currently the maison Louis Roederer has 240 hectares of vineyards distributed in 410 plots in Grands zones and Crus Premiers. They are in three classic districts of Champagne: Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs and Vallee de la Marne. This allows 70% of Louis Roederer’s wines to be made with their own grapes from strict quality criteria.
