Dom Perignon
A LATE HARVEST
The 2013 wine year proved to be a welcome reconnection with the glorious past of late harvests. After a cold and wet winter, spring was grey, rather cool and extremely rainy.
The vines started to sprout about two weeks later than the average for the decade, a delay that lasted until harvest. The hot, dry summer was the sunniest on record in the Champagne region, proving particularly beneficial for the quality of the grapes.
Rain in early September quickly gave way to easterly winds that kept the grapes healthy until harvest. The harvest at Dom Pérignon begins on 28 September. The tasting of this vintage revealed a promising balance between acidity and body.
ELEGANT CLARITY
The creation of the 2013 vintage reveals the resonance between pinots noirs and chardonnays, between acidity and full-bodiedness. The precise, elegant and tactile bouquet blossoms into an extremely delicate powdery aromatic braid around three
nuances: first citrus fruits, then a more vegetal facet and finally spices.
This precision reveals a simple and evident elegance where the wine, after an ethereal attack, amplifies and blossoms before yielding to an ineffable sense of clarity.
