O Produtor, tasting note published in October 22nd 2024

Golden in color, characteristic of black grape varieties, and with very fine bubbles, it has a beautiful aromatic complexity; aromas of ripe fruit and spices; notes of roasted apples, compote, and peaches.
On the palate: A subtle combination of structure, length, and liveliness; bubbles like velvet; aromas of pear, brioche, and spices, with notes of fresh walnut.

Bollinger

The name of Bollinger’s emblematic champagne, with its English spelling, encapsulates its entire history. It was the British agent of Georges Bollinger who, in 1911, christened it “Special Cuvée”, as he found the expression “non-vintage brut” did not do justice to a champagne of such subtlety. Over a century later, the name of Bollinger’s emblematic champagne still encapsulates its entire history.

This is impressed on labels and in memories, as the tastebuds already knew: that Special Cuvée was truly… special. It reflects the House’s hallmark know-how and its ability to recreate, year after year, a cuvée with a constancy of style and quality.

Special Cuvée is the result of a precise blend of several harvests and, above all, reserve wines, which give the wine all its structure and make it a reference of the Bollinger style. It is this delicate combination of the expression of a harvest and a majority of reserve wines, some aged in magnums for 7 to 15 years, that gives it its unique character.

Composed of over 85% Grand and Premier crus from the three main Champagne varieties — 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, and 15% Meunier — Special Cuvée is aged in the cellar for twice as long as required by the appellation regulations. It is moderately dosed between 7 and 8 grams per litre, revealing a wonderful aromatic complexity.

Perfect for sharing among friends, in a simple and meaningful moment, Special Cuvée is the champagne we offer to the people we love and who appreciate fine things. To enhance its unique style, bouquet, and aromas, this wine should be served between 8 and 10°C. You can enjoy Special Cuvée right away or choose to age it in your cellar.

Bollinger

Champagne Bollinger is one of the most famous houses of Champagne in northern France. It is noted for its muscular, Pinot Noir-dominant cuvée, and is widely available around the world.

The house, originally known as Renaudin-Bollinger & Cie, was founded in 1829. It passed through generations of the Bollinger family until 2008 when, for the first time in its history, the president came from outside the family. Bollinger Champagne is still independently owned by Société Jacques Bollinger.
