Puységur

In the shade of the ancient towers of Puységur, overlooking the left bank of the Gers between Auch and Fleurance, Jacques de Chastenet de Puységur (1600 – 1682) was born, a Marshal of the Camp, adviser to King Louis XIII, father of Marshal de Puységur (1656 – 1743), Knight of the Orders of the King and of Saint Louis. The name of such prestigious ancestors could only be associated with an exceptional Armagnac.

Armagnac Puysegur XO is produced in the heart of the Bas Armagnac region – the delimited area for Armagnac production that yields the highest quality, most refined, and complex Armagnacs.

Its soils are known for their toasted sand. The finest wines, from the Baco, Ugni Blanc, and Folle Blanche grape varieties, are selected and then distilled in column stills. This process imparts rich and typical aromas. Armagnac is traditionally distilled only once. The long aging in barrels of black oak from the Monlezun-d’Armagnac forest smoothens the flavor and induces the development of more complex flavors.

When the Armagnac is deemed matured, it is transferred to large glass bottles (demijohns) for storage.

Puységur

Puységur is one of the oldest estates in Armagnac, in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region. The officially demarcated area for Armagnac production encompasses three districts, and it is in the Bas-Armagnac that the highest quality, most refined, and complex Armagnacs are produced.

Armagnac has been produced by the Château since the 16th century. In the 17th century, Jacques de Chastenet de Puységur was the first to introduce it to King Louis XIII of France.

Rich in history and tradition, this famous Gascon brandy from Puységur continues to honor the name of its prestigious ancestors.
