Moscatel is a group of very sweet grape varieties.
Several wines and sparkling wines are produced from muscatel grapes, always with a sweet characteristic. In general, they go very well with desserts, and when chilled, they are refreshing and also as an aperitif.
The Muscatel grape is originally from Greece or Egypt. There are Moscatel wines from Italy, Spain and Portugal, in the region of Setúbal, being the “Moscatel of Setúbal” certified with a “Denomination of Controlled Origin” – DOC and Douro, being the “Moscatel of Favaios” well known and the Moscatel sparkling wines produced in Brazil (being the Cave Antiga one of the most awarded in the Americas).
