Since the Oscars were just two days ago, I have decided to share two more films with you. These have the wine and its industry as the main characters. I hope you enjoy it!

Red obsession

It is an Australian documentary that talks about the wine industry’s tendencies, the obsession of the asian world with Bordeaux’ wines and its consequent inflation. It has interviews with oenologists and winelovers from all over the world and it is narrated by Russell Crowe. Very interesting.

To have with this I strongly recommend a great Portuguese red wine from Douro, the Monte Cascas Reserva.

Mondovino

This is another documentary and it retreats the subject of globalization. Having the wine industry as the main character, it shows how the wine production in the old world have changed and have been influenced by the American market.

It has interesting testimonies of people in the wine industry. For example, as a change representative, Michael Rolland – the most requested oenologist – assures a homogeneous tasting on his wines, in every big market. Also, the most influencing wine critic, Robert Parker – founder of Wine Advocate – reveals that since his opinion can affect the world markets he has insured his nose and taste.

While watching this great documentary, I suggest you to have one of the best Tawny Ports in the market, the Niepoort Tawny Dee.

Cheers, and good movies!
