White: Aromatic

Smell is one of our sharpest senses, so when a wine presents itself with a clean, intense aroma, that’s always good sign of its quality and may provide us relevant information about it.

A protip? If you are tasting a new wine and it doesn’t hold the expected primary aromas, meaning the aromas associated to its grape varieties, it will be hard for you to grasp it – this, we’d say, would make it a less appealing wine.

Thinking about Portuguese whites, we’d say that you are likely to find the most aromatic in the regions of: Verde, Douro, Dão and Alentejo. These regions produce exuberant wines, rich in the aromas of white flowers and fresh fruits like apple, pear, pineapple, melon, peach and passionfruit.
