Wine to pair with
Simple, original, and extremely varied between regions, Italian cuisine is amongst the world’s most popular. The thing is that, despite it not being as sophisticated as other cuisines (France comes to mind…), Italian just tastes good. And, since we enjoy food mostly with our mouth instead of our brains, if it tastes good – it will very likely feel good. Who doesn’t like pasta?
Although it is not common practice, we’d say that a good idea would be to drink the same wine you’re cooking with. Seasoning a special bolognese sauce? Drink that wine – assuming you season your food with proper wine, as you should. After all, you are going to eat it.
Going italian? Try fruity reds, smooth and medium bodied. If you prefer whites, go for smooth, mineral ones.
The regions to go for? Alentejo, Lisboa, Douro, Dão.
