Wine regions
Historically associated with Port wine, Portugal has been working hard to turn the spotlight over its table wines too. And we believe there’s a lot of sense in that.
Variety. Authenticity. Character.
Portugal has the oldest wine Protected Designation of Origin in the world (Douro). We grow over 285 unique grape varieties, scattered over a landscape ranging from the steep Douro, to the plain, dry Alentejo. Our winemakers are wisely combining centuries of wine culture with a twist of contemporary trends, to produce refined yet audacious, singular wines.
This legacy has been acknowledged and those initiated in wine loving now know that Portugal is one of the most exciting wine regions in the world.
If you take a look at Wine Spectator’s 2014 Top 5 you will learn this is true: three of them are Portuguese; number one included. Surprised? We’re not.
Take the time to visit and you will feel why Portuguese wines are meant to keep on scoring high.
