“What more can we say about chef Ljubomir Stanisic, after all that has already been said, written, and filmed? Everyone knows the Michelin-starred chef, the television star, with his restless personality. But there’s something very serious to mention: Ljubo is also a skilled winemaker.
That the chef has already ventured into winemaking is no surprise to anyone. But the truth is, the more he delves into this journey, the more he immerses himself in cellars and exercises his remarkable gift for alchemy, the more he succeeds in producing surprising wines. This new batch of wines (a total of 36,000 liters) made in partnership with Dick Niepoort, Mateus Nicolau de Almeida, Luís Louro, and Inês Capão is truly impressive (…).
All of them, even through their excesses, bring a lot of balance. And it’s not just harmony that we find in Ljubomir’s wines. The passion and emotion that have always marked the chef’s food are all there, bottled up.” (Wine Magazine, Revista de Vinhos, n.º 413, April 2024)
It’s a blend with Love. They are wines. They are adjectives. Superlatives. Full of intensity, voracity. A will to live. To speak. To love and protest. As Loving as Daring, Brave and Raw, Curious but also Mature, Dangerous and Rare, Solid and somewhat Lively. Wines with a strong personality, just like the chef who created them.
Ljubomir Stanisic was born in Sarajevo. At 14 – and with the strength of 20 – he started working in a bakery to help support his family. He worked at night and studied during the day. He would fall asleep on the bus on the way to school, in class… At 19, he arrived in Portugal. At 26, he opened his first restaurant in 2004, in Cascais, where he won several awards. In January 2009, he opened his first restaurant in Lisbon, 100 Maneiras (now Michelin-starred), with a unique tasting menu, and a year later, Bistro 100 Maneiras, considered the best restaurant in the world by the prestigious Monocle magazine in 2017. The Yugoslavian-most-Portuguese-ever chef is the author of five books and a “celebrity chef” since 2011, when he became a judge on the first Masterchef Portugal.
