This 2022 vintage Syrah is more than just a wine; it is an oenological representation of the transformative spirit of that historical moment.
Republicano displays a medium-depth ruby color and an intense aromatic profile, with notes of ripe red fruit, complemented by hints of toast, smoke, and tobacco. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious balance between full and elegant tannins, fresh acidity, and moderate alcohol, reminiscent of classic “old-world” wines. The finish is long and fresh, providing a sophisticated and immersive tasting experience.
The wine’s maturation process is equally distinctive and reflects the creative and irreverent spirit of Tiago Macena, the winemaker behind the Dão wines crafted by No Rules Wines. Half of the batch aged in stainless steel tanks, while the other half matured in new French oak barrels, imparting unique complexity and depth. After 18 months of maturation, the wine underwent an additional 4-month aging in stainless steel, creating a wine that is balanced yet powerful in structure.
