Quinta de Pancas “Special Selection” Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Produced on the basis of a rigorous selection of lots of varied plots of this Bordeaux variety, it resulted in one of the best examples. Stage in small barrels of new national oak. Complex and expressive aromas with fruit surrounded by wood. It is full bodied and velvety with a persistent finish and still long with the already 20 years since its harvest.


Located in Alenquer, the Quinta de Pancas (descendant family of Bartolomeu Perestrello) is 45 km away from the city of Lisbon, in Santo Estevão e Triana. Also known as “Alto Municipal de Alenquer”.

The lands of Alenquer extend between Serra de Montejunto and the right bank of the river Tejo, unfolding in a landscape of mountains, mountains, valleys and plains. The property has about 50 acres of vineyard.

Currently the red varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Merlot, Castelão, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Petit Verdot and Malbec. As for the white varieties we have in the property: Arinto, Chardonnay and Vital.

Traditionally a region of large quantities production and low quality. The old region of Extremadura and that since 2001 denominated Lisbon begins to realize of the revolution that begins in the Quinta de Pancas. The decision in the 1970’s to plant noble vineyards, both domestic and foreign, proved to be the right base stone to change the image of the region’s wines and encourage other producers to follow suit.

With quality varieties and modern technology, the winemaker Gilberto Marques has created wines of excellent quality, proven by the national and international awards.
