It is a quite recent product available on the market. Created to a target that does not enjoy wine or that, for various reasons, prefers to drink wine without alcoholic content.

Is it wine or grape juice?

Well, the process of making juice is not complicated. The only thing that needs to be done is to boil the grapes, with or without sugar.

When it is wine, the final drink is the result of a natural fermentation (the yeast transforms natural sugar in alcohol), just like in any “normal” wine. Obviously, this process is made without any addition of sugar or water.

How does the alcohol disappear?

So, non-alcoholic wine is made just like a normal wine. The only difference is on the extration of alcohol. Actually, the alcoholic content is separated using a physical process, instead of a chemical one, called “Spinning Cone Column” (SCC).

This process consists in using low temperatures to separate and deconstruct the molecular components in wine. After that, the components are joined; now without the alcohol. So, after the fermentation occurs and before being bottled, wine goes through a process of dealcoholization, keeping its properties as wine, including those related to health (because it keeps the polyphenols and antioxidants).

Regarding its taste, there are lots of opinions. To be honest, I have never tried it but some say it is very weird and some that is very good!

Cheers!
