BELONDRADE Y LURTON is a high-quality Spanish white wine, recognized by oenophiles worldwide as one of the best examples of the Verdejo grape from the Rueda region.
Extremely popular, this wine almost instantly sells out after each vintage release. With its recognizable label (completely orange), it is a wine that also stands out visually, both on the shelf and on the table. In the early years after its release, it was simply nicknamed “etiqueta naranja” by the Spanish, a name by which it is still recognized today.
Like all great stories, this one begins with a dream. Didier Belondrade and Brigitte Lurton dreamed of creating a White Wine with a capital W in the land of Cervantes after, in 1992, tasting their first Verdejo wine and falling in love with this grape variety.
With deep roots in Bordeaux, they brought French techniques to the terroir of the Castilian plateau and applied them to a native grape variety: Verdejo.
In 1996, the dream materialized with the launch of the first vintage. For the first time, BELONDRADE Y LURTON conquered a place on the great Spanish tables. Thanks to an excellent reception from critics and customers, the name BELONDRADE resonated across the world.
Three years later, with the goal of making BELONDRADE “a Bordeaux château in Spain”, it was essential to establish the project on one principle: own vineyards. Thus, the Quinta San Diego property began to take shape with the planting of the first four plots: “Tomillar Grande”, “Tomillar Pequeño”, “Camino Ventosa”, and “Bodega”.
Over the years, BELONDRADE Y LURTON wines have received numerous awards and recognition from the world’s top wine critics and enthusiasts.
And now, this icon of the Spanish wine world, the white wine BELONDRADE Y LURTON, arrives at Vinha accompanied by its “siblings”, BELONDRADE QUINTA APOLONIA white wine and BELONDRADE CLARISA rosé wine.
