José Maria da Fonseca has just released the latest vintage of its super-premium red wine: the Hexagon 2017. This exclusive wine is the culmination of decades of tradition and innovation, reflecting the excellence of Portuguese winemaking.
An Oenological Masterpiece
The Hexagon 2017 is the perfect combination of six grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Trincadeira, Tinto Cão, Touriga Francesa, and Tannat. With an intense ruby color and aromas of red fruits such as blueberries and black plum, it is complemented by delicate notes of truffle. On the palate, it is fruity and elegant, with soft tannins and a long finish where the acidity of Tinto Cão and Tannat stand out.
Tradition and Innovation
Created by winemaker Domingos Soares Franco, a member of the sixth generation of the founding family, Hexagon was first released in 2000 and has since become synonymous with quality and exclusivity.
The winemaking process includes crushing the grapes in stainless steel vats and fermenting at 27°C for about 6 days. Alcoholic fermentation finishes in oak casks, where the wine matures for 3 months on fine lees. After the first racking, the wine returns to the same casks for an additional 8-month aging period in new French oak half-pipes.
Availability and Price
With a limited production, the Hexagon 2017 is available in 750 ml bottles, making it a unique opportunity for wine lovers and collectors. With Christmas approaching, this wine is the perfect gift for someone special or to enrich your wine cellar.
Delicious after decanting, the Hexagon 2017 pairs wonderfully with game dishes and aged cheeses, and it has great aging potential.
