In Portugal Easter is a time of strong traditions when it comes to food. The Portuguese Easter Bread, called folar, the lamb and chocolate eggs, good wine and spirit should always be there. As well as in Portugal, there are other particular food traditions around the world. Get to know some of them:

1. Babka Wielkanocna – Poland:
You’ll have a hard time pronouncing it but a good time eating this true delight. A sweet, sponge bread with rum syrup and sugar. Its complicated name comes from the Polish word for “grandmother”.

2. Baked Ham – USA:
A pork leg covered with brown sugar and mustard cooked in the oven, slowly, for hours. Sounds so good, this is the American Easter tradition, so simple and so good.

3. Cozonac – Bulgaria:
A sweet and sponge bread from Bulgaria and Romania. It’s the delight of these people, who celebrate Easter the traditional way.

4. Fanesca – Ecuador:
A soup prepared the week before Easter, made from cod, fig-leaf gourd, pumpkin, and 12 different kinds of beans and grains, traditionally garnished with hard-boiled eggs, fried plantains, herbs and parsley.

5. Hot Cross Buns – United Kingdom:
The most religious and traditional of all pastries. These sweet buns are made from raisins and, as a Christian tradition, finished with pastry crosses on the top.
