The Belondrade y Lurton 2023 has just been released, offering a new interpretation of an excellent Verdejo from the Rueda region. This wine, recognized as one of the best whites in Spain, reflects Didier Belondrade’s dream of creating an outstanding white wine. And all great stories begin with a dream.

The Origin of Belondrade: “A Bordeaux Château in Spain”

Belondrade was born at Quinta San Diego, a vineyard farmed organically at 800 meters above sea level. This land, with its unique soils and characteristics, is a mosaic made up of 23 plots. Each one has its own particularities, such as variations in sun exposure, planting density, and vine age. To ensure the highest expression of the terroir, each plot is vinified separately.

The 2023 harvest presented challenges due to climatic variations, with intense heat followed by torrential rains. However, Didier and Jean Belondrade, along with about 50 harvesters, managed to turn these challenges into an advantage. The harvest was brought forward to August 24th to preserve acidity and balance the wine, a true work of precision. The result was a more concentrated and mature wine, while maintaining the freshness and elegance characteristic of the brand.

Characteristics of the New Belondrade Harvest

The Belondrade y Lurton 2023 is a perfect combination of freshness, complexity, and great aging potential. After spontaneous fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, the wine matures, gaining complexity and refinement.

Color: Pale yellow with golden reflections, clear and brilliant, with abundant tears and slow descent.
Aromas: The nose is well-defined, with notes of fresh white fruit, citrus touches, delicate flowers, and subtle hints of pastry, cakes, and aromatic herbs.
Palate: The texture is silky and creamy, fresh and velvety. It has excellent acidity, and the finish is slightly bitter, but with great persistence and length.

This wine is ideal for those who appreciate wines of great complexity and elegance, with an impressive capacity for evolution. Its acidity and structure ensure remarkable longevity, making it perfect for consumption in the next 6 to 8 years.

Belondrade: The Benchmark of Rueda Wines

More than just a wine, Belondrade represents a commitment to quality, the land, and tradition. Each bottle expresses the care and passion with which the Belondrade family works, creating wines that not only represent Rueda but also delight and surprise wine lovers around the world.
