It is from the people’s simple and passionate hands, and centuries of tradition, that wines from Dão are born.
This region has had some kind of regulating protection since the XVII century. However, it was only in 1908 that its demarcation was recognized. It was in fact the first demarcated region in the world for still wines, not fortified.
The Dão’s magic is on its losing sight vineyards, on its granitic cold and its wine’s distinct taste. Easily recognizable in each sip, the flavor from years of effort, the palate marked by determination, caressed by the people’s passion.
The reds are dry, strong, with intense colors and full-bodied. They exemplify the granitic landscape and the strong appearance of those who work the land, and have the right flavors consistency that satisfy us.
The whites are aromatic, fruity and clean. They remind me a sunset in a warm day and a field of daisies that mark with freshness the roads and paths that we cross here.
This is the wine from Dão from a layperson’s perspective, enthusiast and passionate about the land that made me the woman I am today.
And, as the poet said: “Life is good, but better is wine”.
